Visitors to Newport are often amazed to find a university nestled in the center of such cultural and historical splendor. Viewed as a “living laboratory” by faculty, staff and students, the 75-acre campus of Salve Regina offers what the National Trust for Historic Preservation has described as a “tour of the great architectural works of the Gilded Age.”

In recent years, the university has gained widespread recognition for its educational programs in preservation, and for the restoration of its majestic buildings and landscapes. The oceanside setting, however, offers more than a glimpse of the past. Surrounded by rare trees, tide pools and museums, the campus provides access to exceptional learning opportunities for students in many disciplines.

Salve Regina’s virtual tour highlights the campus as it exists today, while showcasing the cherished treasures that contribute to the university’s extraordinary environment.
