NEWPORT, R.I. – In recognition of Salve Regina's 60th anniversary celebration, which runs through September, SALVEtoday is spending the year examining the university's history through photographs culled from its archives. Each month, a photo retrospective is looking at "The Way We Were." Salve Regina first opened its doors 60 years ago in September 1947. To commemorate this milestone, a yearlong celebration is highlighting the continued development of the university's academic community and to honor 60 years of mercy in higher education. Photos submitted by Maria Bernier, university archivist. |
