Microsoft Office 2010
The Office of Information Technologies is releasing Microsoft Office Professional 2010 for PCs and Microsoft Office 2011 for Macs across campus. The rollout is scheduled to occur this summer in classroom teacher stations, computer labs and the McKillop Library.
Upgrades to new versions of the Microsoft Office suite will occur as new computers are rolled out to faculty and staff in the regular rotation. If you would like to upgrade to the new Office products sooner, contact the Help Desk at Ext. 7777, option 2.
Many of the features in Office 2010 for the PC remain the same and are recognizable from the experience with Office 2007. One major change is the use of the "ribbon" in Outlook, which had used a menu-driven system in Office 2007. Changes in Office 2011 for the Mac are more noticeable as the "ribbon" has been introduced in this latest version. Office 2007 (PC) and Office 2008 (Mac) documents are fully compatible with the new versions.
Students, faculty and staff may purchase Office 2010 for the PC and Office 2011 for the Mac through the laptop service center in the McKillop Library garden level as part of our Microsoft campus agreement. This purchase allows for the installation of the software on a single computer for personal use.
