Academic Development Center

The ADC provides academic support to all matriculated Salve Regina University students at no additional charge. The ADC is comprised of four areas: Subject Tutoring, Writing Center, Disability Services and the English as a Second Language Resource Center. Subject tutoring at the ADC is certified by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA), a nationally recognized standard of quality service. CRLA has been endorsed by the National Association for Developmental Education Associations and the National Tutoring Association.

Tutoring Services

  • Specific Subject Tutoring
  • Student tutors recommended by faculty; all attend an extra 1-credit workshop to develop their tutoring skills
  • Individual sessions arranged around a student's schedule
  • Pairs or group session by arrangement
  • Tutoring done in the ADC or at alternate locations by arrangement
  • Usually 30 minute appointments; longer sessions by arrangement

Writing Center

  • Support for all aspects of writing, at any stage in the writing process
  • Student tutors recommended by faculty; all attend an extra 1-credit workshop to develop their tutoring skills
  • Sessions usually by appointment; additional drop-in support often available
  • Students must be present to discuss their writing - it is not a proofreading service
  • Usually 30 minute appointments; longer sessions by arrangement

Disability Services

  • Disability review and accommodations approval
  • Disability-related information dissemination and community resource referrals
  • Assistive technology
  • Common learning modifications and accommodations
  • Monitoring and support for students with disabilities
  • Faculty and staff support and information
  • Work with administration in development of all disability-related policies and procedures of the university
